Websites are created for the purpose of having identity and presence in the Internet, which has taken over broadcast media as the preferred medium of information. Companies design their own websites to attract more clients and customers to their businesses. Those which have e-commerce websites, meanwhile, tap the Internet to create sales online. One of the best ways to get sales and traffic in the Internet would be through search engine optimization. Also called SEO, it means calibrating the website to help it rank highly in various search engines. This is important considering that most Internet users look for products and services through search engines. Thus a website should be a top search result in areas where it is related to.
And how do you do web design for SEO? Here are a couple of good ways.
First, you should make sure that the naming convention for each page of your website is search engine friendly. Place important keywords you want to be optimized as your page. However, it has to be related to the contents of the page. For instance, separate words using (-) like “budget-car-rentals.html”.
Avoid using frames or Flash for your website. Those websites built on frames and Flash prevents search engine robots to crawl the content of the website, meaning these sites won’t rank highly in search engines.
Place important keywords inside the title and meta tags. Always have a sitemap in your website, since it allows search engines to follow links as well as index pages of your website.
These are just a few effective methods. You could easily search online for more useful tips on how to make sure that your web design would be SEO-friendly.
